Bill Summary: This bill increases the maximum allowed weekly benefit amount from $380 to $410 (by $30) for claims establishing a new benefit year on or after October 4, 2009. For claims establishing a new benefit year on or after October 3, 2010, the maximum weekly benefit is increased from $410 to $430 (by $20).

History: This bill was enacted as Chapter 287.

Chamber Position: Support

Position Summary: This bill is the result of a comprise between business and labor groups. The maximum weekly benefit amount has not increased in a number of years, and this bill provides for an increase that both business and labor agree to support. For these reasons, the Maryland Chamber supported this bill.
