Bill Title: Intercounty Connector - Impact on Global Warming - Study

Bill Sponsor(s): Delegate Stein, et al.

Subject: Transportation

Committee: ENV

Bill Summary: This bill requires the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Department of the Environment to conduct a study on the impact the Intercounty Connector project could have on greenhouse gas emissions; requires the study to quantify specified costs attributable to the project; requiring a specified public comment period; makes financing of the project contingent on the publication and submission of the study to the Governor and the General Assembly; etc.

History: None

Chamber Position: Oppose

Position Summary: The Intercounty Connector has been studied for decades and is now moving towards construction. This study would stop the progress of this critically important transportation project that has won federal and state support. For that reason, the Maryland Chamber strongly opposes this bill.
