Bill Summary: This bill prohibits a producer, refiner, wholesaler, or distributor of gasoline for retail sale from using specified pricing systems using a determination based on geographic locations or specified pricing systems with specified effects; prohibits a producer, refiner, wholesaler, or distributor from discriminating in specified pricing of gasoline; requires the disclosure and offer of specified discounts and rebates in a specified manner; provides specified penalties for a violation of the Act; etc.

Position Summary: The free market is the most efficient and cost-effective system for delivering goods and services needed by Maryland residents. The Maryland Chamber opposes measures that would impose regulation on goods and services because of the impact such regulation would have on the marketplace, particularly during times of shortages. For this reason, the Maryland Chamber opposes HB 1208.
