Summary: Public transit is critically important for the efficient and effective movement of people in the region. Some standard of accountability is needed to ensure our limited Transportation Fund dollars are being spent in the most cost-effective manner possible. Repealing the current farebox recovery goal of the Maryland Transit Authority of 50% operating costs would eliminate accountability for cost-efficiency. For this reason, the Maryland Chamber opposes HB 1185.
